Abstract/Summary

A watching brief carried out over part of the line of the Corby South Trunk Main revealed little of significance in the areas previously identified as having archaeological potential; nevertheless, elsewhere in the easement two metalworking furnaces of possible Iron Age or early medieval date were identfied, and a small quantity of flint recovered, including two implements of Late Neolithic/ Early Bronze Age date. A section across the line of the Gartree Roman road is discussed.
