Abstract/Summary

J.S.Bloor Services Ltd have outline planning permission for development on two areas of land at Stanford-On-Avon, Northamptonshire. Area A lies within the former walled garden of Stanford Hall (c.1ha). Area B lies to the south of Home Farm (c.1ha). It is noted that additional areas may be required to create new access and services. Both Areas fall within the Scheduled Monument of the Deserted Medieval Village of Stanford-On-Avon. In order to gain further information as to the nature, extent, date, condition and importance of the site(s) Northamptonshire Archaeology were commissioned to undertake archaeological evaluation composed of three stages: 1. Desk-top study, 2. Geophysical survey, 3. Trial trenching.
