Description

{1} In July 2006 an archaeological evaluation was undertaken to investigate the lost site of the church of St James and to examine the early 'nucleated' settlement in the northern half of the village. A series of 6 trenches and 9 test pits were excavated. The location of the church was pinpointed and a basic floorplan of the structure was pieced together from the archaeological remains. However, little evidence for early settlement was revealed during the evaluation.
