Description
Magnetometer survey with a cart-mounted array of Bartington Grad601 fluxgate gradiometers. The survey detected three separate large enclosure systems along the top of the valley and several, outlying archaeological features including ring ditches. The enclosure systems, all of which are presumed to be Iron Age or Roman, all held evidence of roundhouses and internal divisions as well as a large number of pits and post holes. Evidence of surface quarrying was detected on the downslope, while medieval to early post-medieval ridge and furrow was detected in all of the surveyed fields.
