Description

{1} A single trial trench was excavated on the east side of Vicar Lane. Medieval ditches and hollows were cut into the natural clay. Above were buildings constructed in the 17th century and demolished in the 19th century. After their destruction a railway embankment and terrace were laid out across the site. The embankment sealed the remains at the west end of the site while the terracing substantially removed them at the centre and east.
