Summary

A mill with medieval origins it possibly belonged to Crowland Manor. By 1926 the mill was disused and by 1999 it was partially demolished. Now entirely demolished.

Full Description

{1} By 1926 the mill is shown as 'disused'. Now partially demolished.

{2} There were two watermills belonging to Crowland Manor (SMR 7206/104) in the medieval period, this mill may have been one of them.

{3} Kilborn's mill is shown on the tithe map of 1847, it is likely that this mill was medieval in origin.

{4} Documentary references to a post medieval watermill. "Ise Mill" was otherwise known as "Kilbornmill".

{5} The freehold water-corn mill is known as Ise Mill.

{?} The mill is in an area which was once part of Irthlingborough parish. (The boundary changed in 1935). It is possibly one of the mills mentioned in the Domesday Survey.

{7} 1539 Reference to a mill called East Mill at wellingborough
1817 a watermill situate in the parishes of Irthlingborough and Wellingborough with standing and going gear, was insured for £500. the mill was carrying two pairs of stones and stood two storeys high, with tiled roof. At the same time a post windmill in the parish of Irthlingborough was insured by the same person who insured the watermill.
