{4} [Former list description] II* House at entrance to East Haddon Hall and forming part of the stable block. Dated 1662. A high E shaped one storey (and attic) sandstone house with a thatch roof and a central stone chimney stack. Entrance front, West, has 2 gabled wings central gabled porch, all lower than the main block, verges and kneelers on all gables. Moulded stone eaves. There is a deep plinth. There is one
3-light mullioned window to both floors in the wings and a similar window to the ground floor on both sides of the porch. The doorway has a semi-circular arch head with a keystone, and there is a heavy cornice above it and above that there is a large oval window. In the gable end to the road there is a 3-light mullioned window to both floors, and a good small datestone with a finely moulded architrave.
There is a cornice dripstone above all windows - all have leaded lights (except the oval window in the porch). The ground floor now serves as a garage with large doorways on the East front. There is a later extension Eastwards along the roadside. On the gable end of this is the date 1654, apparently all that remains of an earlier building.
{5} Stables of 1663, on an E plan, with three gables. The porch entrance has a round arch, and there is a big, vertically placed oval window above it.
