{3} Research report into the history and development of the buildings on the site. Highlights the possibility that the original farmhouse and barn may be older than first thought and that the listing dates early 18th/19th centuries may be slightly off. The survey has also suggested that there were possibly two major expansion periods that may have been influenced by market and technological forces. Without specific dating material it is suggested that the first expansion was sometime between c.1799-1838, the second c.1848-1900. Initially the farm may have started as a small, single storey unit with detached barn. By 1838 the Georgian farm complex shows a U-shaped plan comrising a series of buildings constructed of limestone and ironstone.
Detailed record of the building, plans and photos.
The earliest mention of the farm is in 1800 and maps between 1803 and 1838 show a slow process of expansion of the farm complex. The eventual outline of the farm was set between 1838 and 1901. Research has indicated that there have been very few owners, possibly no more than 5 in total.
