Full Description

Public house. Mid C18. Squared coursed lias and brick, now part painted, with C20 plain tile and slate roofs. Originally 2-unit plan. 2 storeys with attic. 2-window range of casements with glazing bars under wood lintels. Central 6-panel door with glazed top lights has C20 hood. Central wooden eaves dormer has casement with glazing bars. Ashlar gable parapets and brick stacks at ends. Gable to left has 2-light part-leaded attic casement under wood lintel. C19 brick extension of 3-window range . t. Interior not inspected. Former blacksmiths to rear is said to have been owned by Benjamin Franklin's family. (Ecton: Bertram Knight n.d.).
