Crop/soilmark: Poor quality photography

{2} Trenches 23 and 24 tested the cropmarks of an apparent linear system extending in a south westerly direction from about the mid-point of the western edge of the Roman walled town . It seems likely that it represents part of a post-medieval or recent scheme of land drainage.

{3} A linear anomaly extending in a south westerly dirction from about the mid point of the edge of the Roman walled town to the western field boundary represents a former hedge ditch or drain. Other regular linear features extending from this drain probably denote the alignments of further modern land drains.
