Full Description
{2} The cropmark traces of a group of rectilinear and sub-circular enclosures thought to be Iron Age or Roman in date were seen centred as a group at SP 5020 4050. These enclosures lie in close proximity to one another across three modern fields and may be associated with each other. The enclosures are all ditch defined and comprise a rectilinear enclosure with straight sides and curved corners (bisected by a modern field boundary) centred at SP5013 4051 measuring 53m x 58m. To the north-east at SP 5020 4056 is a curvilinear enclosure with an approximate diameter of 15m, and at SP 5025 4060 an incomplete sub-rectangular enclosure measuring 24m x33m.
At SP 5026 4050 is an incomplete sub-rectangular enclosure approximately 20m across, and to the south of this at SP 5026 4043 a further sub-rectangular enclosure measuring approximately 50m 57m. The enclosures were recorded from aerial photographs taken by English Heritage in July 2006, but this site was originally mapped and recorded during the Northamptonshire NMP project.
[This comprises the western portion of HER number 9682].
