Full Description

{1} Andrew Austin and Co. Ltd. Soap Factory, Gravely Street. Business moved to Gravely Street and began to specialise in face soaps and laundry soaps. Now owned by Strong and Fisher.
Leather dressing works, Irchester Road. Was in use by Strong and Fisher group. Now up for re-development as residential dwellings. Demolished since the field visit. Film 17, photo 21-23.

{2} The main Strong and Fisher site was located between Gravely Street and Irchester Road, Rushden (Map 1). A further building was located to the northeast fronting onto Gravely St but this was not subject to as detailed inspection.
The site was visited and photographed in response to an application for the demolition of the factory buildings.
