Find Spot record 2826/0/4 - Undated Ironworking Debris

{1} Anomaly A was sited in an area associated with a spread of metal working slag. Interpretation of the magnetometer recording is consistent with the effects of individual pieces of slag on the ground surface and within the topsoil. No evidence of related industrial activity such as charcoal or other burnt material was present.

{3} No features were present during trial trenching but a discrete area of burnt material and slag lay in the topsoil towards the centre of the trench and a similar deposit to the west end of the trench. These deposits presumably denote ploughed-out features, possibly associated with former iron working.
