Description

{1} Five archaeological trial trenches were excavated to examine the nature of linear features known from aerial photographs and to investigate the significance of previously recorded patches of burning residue and iron slag associated with magnetic anomalies. The trial excavation exposed sections of undated ditches below some of the cropmarks. No features were associated with the burnt areas and scatters of metal slag.
