Full Description

{1} A group of earthworks lie along a hollow way to the south east of the village and these comprise areas of uneven ground, assumed to be houses. An Anglian Water Authority pipe trench in 1979 exposed the hollow way and houses on both sides of it.

{2} A watching brief was maintained on the excavation of the pipeline trench through the hollow way, but no features pre-dating the medieval period were identified.

{3} Hollow way survives along the northern edge of the field. Houses of former settlement had fronted onto it.

{5} A hollow way with house platforms and property boundaries on either side of it. A hedge line runs down it. After 180m the hollow way turns abruptly eastwards. A further hollow way branched off to the north (marked 'n' on the earthwork plan).
