Summary

The camp was established in the 1920s as a training camp for emigrants to Canada. It was used as an army camp during WWII and as temporary accommodation for steelworkers based at Corby in the 1960s.

{2}In 1928 it was announced that Brigstock Camp was to be opened as a emigration camp for Canadians where they could learn self sufficiency. In October 1930 its closure was announced. It had become a centre for trouble. In August 1939 it was announced that it would be refurbished as an army camp. After other uses, mostly army connected it was sold at auction in 1960. (MORE),

{1}Camp probably that depicted on current OS maps as `Brigstock Camp (smallholding)'. Information from B Bellamy in November 1997 suggest that this camp was established in the 1930's or earlier for training of prospective Canadian emigrant in industrial/agricultural skills. It was reputedly not used as a POW camp during WW2.
