Monument record 8115/1/20 - Pillbox, Brigstock Camp

Probable World War II type 24 pillbox of a variant form. Hexagonal with brick walls and concrete roof and what appears to be an earth floor. On East side of Brigstock Camp, approx. 120 metres south east of building 12 adjacent to the track.

{1}Pillbox similar to the Type 22 design located on the east side of the camp.

{2} Not selected for detailed survey as it was in a more fragmentary condition. One of three pillboxes identified on site.

{4} Probable type 24 pillbox of a variant form. Hexagonal with brick walls and concrete roof and what appears to be an earth floor. Central brick square pillar/anti-ricochet wall. Embrasures to five sides, with concrete lintel over and internal concrete shelf. Entrance comprises a low rectangular opening, with above, and to both sides a small (rifle) embrasure. No blast wall at entrance.

On E side of Brigstock Camp, approx. 120 metres SE of building 12 adjacent to the track.
