Full Description

{1} The archaeological activity can be broadly broken down into three phases; these are based largely on stratigraphic relationships rather than finds data (all the pottery was Iron Age). Phase A consisted of Iron Age field boundaries. Phase B consisted of an Iron Age enclosed settlement, pit alignment, and further ditches and pits. Phase C saw the construction of a large parallel ditch system, of probable Roman date.

The Iron Age settlement is broadly dated to the mid to late Iron Age, probably of the 2nd century BC, or into the early 1st century.
