Full Description

{3} The north-eastern half of two concentric ditches were identified during the geophysical survey. The survey indicated the outer circuit had a diameter of c40m. No features were identified during the first phase of evaluation. During the second phase the outer ditch was identified. The ditch defined a roughly circular, raised area noted on both sides of the hedge. An excavated section was 6.2m wide and 1.3m deep. The upper fill contained four sherds of Romano-British pottery and a nail likely to be of the same date; this material is likely to have accumulated during gradual silting up of the ditch. The general morphology of the feature points to it being a Bronze Age round barrow.
