Full Description
{1} Original owners were Park Gate Iron Co.Ltd and production was started in May 1917; the Park Gate Iron and Steel Co.Ltd took over on 14th June 1919. The system closed on 18th November 1961and its remains have to be sought as the countryside has healed well and the quarries cannot be easily found.
Charwelton was always in the same ownership, resulting in the survival of records covering the whle of its operating history. Charwelton had a unique connection to the Great Central Railway main line to Marylebone.
