Full Description

{1} A cluster of deeply buried features comprising an 18th century pit, two stake holes, two post holes and a shallow gully. A nearby ironstone foundation of 18th/19th century date may relate to an unsuspected boundary. A nearby wall sub-divided the building on the frontage at some point. A 300mm deep vertically-sided pit may be part of a 17th/18th century horticultural planting trench (similarly dated examples found in Northampton and Coventry) and contained a complete vessel - which may have served a horticultural purpose. Vessel described as Midland Black "butter-pot".
