{2} Burgage here in 1493; NCCAP: SP5259/002+005-7+011-14;

{3} Upper Catesby SP 528 594 probably first recorded in Domesday though included with Lower Catesby (SP 55 NW 18) and probably Newbold (SP 56 SW 7), population 25. 1301:13 taxpayers are listed for Catesby and Newbold. 1377:172 Poll Tax payers. 1379:126 Poll Tax payers. Untilled land recorded in early 15th century. 1491 Prioress of Catesby destroyed 14 houses and evicted 60 people for pasture,though which village was affected is unclear. 1517-18 60 further evictions. C1720 8 houses recorded at Upper Catesby. 1791:7 buildings depicted on map. 1834:at least 6 buildings remain. These susequently removed, and present houses built c1863-1901. Earthworks recorded in two areas. SE of the existing houses a single row of embanked closes, now destroyed by modern cultivation and to the N and W surviving earthworks indicate a hollow way running NW and adjacent possible house sites and paddocks, over ploughed by narrow ridge and furrow [RCHM plan]. The medieval parish church stood in this village
