Full Description

{1} Residual Iron Age and Roman pottery was seen in all of the trial trenches.
An old ground surface and layers of probable hill wash contained 1 possible Iron Age and 1 early/middle Saxon sherd, possibly indicating earlier activity on the site.

{3} A background scatter of Roman and early-middle Saxon pottery on the site suggests that there was both Roman and Saxon activity in the area.

{5} As in the previous season there was a background scatter of Roman and early-middle Saxon pottery on the site.

{7} High quality Roman artefacts found.

{8} 1 sherd of Iron Age pottery and 2 sherds of Roman pottery, one with lattice decoration, were found in badger sett spoil.
