Abstract/Summary

A three-week programme of excavation on a raised platform within the eastern side of the Alderton Mount. The excavation demonstrated that the platform was constructed in the first half of the 12th century and that a stone building, which stood in the southern part of the platform, went out of use in the 14th century. Further excavation is proposed in 2011 to shed light upon the structural remains found so far.
