Full Description
{1} Near the church at c.SP54485552 was the "monastery" owned by Biddlesden in Buckinghamshire. The farmhouse next to the church is still known as Biddlesden House.
{2} In 1086 Charwelton was divided into 4 manors. In 1417 Thomas Andrews, a merchant, acquired a small estate, and later he or his son, also Thomas, leased most of the land in the parish held by Thorney [Cambridgeshire?] and Bittlesden [Buckinghamshire] Abbeys. Church Charwelton was certainly abandoned by 1847, when it was known as Home Close and belonged to the still-standing Charwelton House.
