Full Description

{1} Based on results of a watching brief carried out in 1967 by Gwen Brown. Interprets part of the site as Anglo-Saxon or Norman defences. The medieval ditch lay above two Roman ditches although the dating evidence for this feature is not firm

{2} A metalled surface is likely to be associated with the Civil War re-defence of the town.
