Abstract/Summary

A preliminary archaeological desk-based assessment as part of the Environmental Management and Investment Plan for the conservation and enhancement of Salcey Forest and Yardley Chase. The area comprises 3828ha and includes woodland, arable, pasture with small settlements. The survey includes a synthesis of documentary, cartographic sources as well as the results of a preliminary series of site visits. Recommendations for the direction of future work, including an assessment of access and public awareness regarding the diverse heritage of this part of Northamptonshire are made.
