Abstract/Summary

Recent studies on English lowland villages, by workers in a number of different disciplines, have shown that many of these places changed their location and morphology in Saxon, medieval and later times. An examination of a number of Northamptonshire villages and their associated earthworks indicates that field archaeological techniques can supply important additional evidence supporting the thesis of settlement mobility
