Abstract/Summary

A combined Level 1 and 2 historic building record of a number of barns and outbuildings associated with Green Farm, Ashton, Northamptonshire was undertaken in July 2017 by the University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS). The Level 1 survey studied a threshing barn, a small stone barn and stable block all of 19th-century origin. An early 20th-century barn was also part of the Level 1 survey. The Level 2 survey studied two Grade II listed buildings comprising a 19th-century row of former stables, more recently used as garages, and a thatched barn with raised cruck blades of probable 18th-century date. The buildings form part of the Green Farm property which was part of the Ashton Estate belonging to Lionel Rothschild. As part of the renovation and conversion programme Green Farm house has already been the subject of a Level 2 building survey. The report and archive will be deposited under Event Number ENN18254
