Description
{2} Construction of Contracts 4 and 5 of the A1-M1 road link (subsequently renamed the A14) commenced during 1990. Contract 4 ran from Kettering to Rothwell with Contract 5, otherwise known as the Kettering Southern Bypass, extending east as far as Cranford Road approximately midway between Kettering and Cranford St John. Throughout construction but particularly during the initial phases of work, an archaeological watching brief was maintained by Northamptonshire Archaeology Unit's (now Northamptonshire Heritage's) Field Officer.
