Description
{1} A strip, map and sample excavation was undertaken in discrete areas across the development site. The area of the proposed balancing pond was stripped under archaeological observation to the level of the first archaeological horizon. The area was approximately 1.13ha in size. There were two ditches, four furrows and two Anglo-Saxon Sunken-Featured Buildings. Between 3rd - 9th March 2017 a Strip, Map and Record exercise took place at the site of a proposed roundabout at the north end of the development area. The works identified a linear ditch located in the north-east of the stripped area, in addition to two furrows and a palaeochannel. A drainage trench was cut within the east-west link road corridor between 6-10th February 2017. A post-medieval furrow, contination of the palaeochannel and a modern hedge boundary were observed.
