Abstract/Summary

A programme of archaeological mitigation, comprising earthwork survey, excavation and a Strip, Map and Record exercise, was undertaken on land at the site of the proposed A43 Moulton Bypass. The works recorded an area containing two Saxon Sunken-Featured Buildings and a possible undated droveway, as well as a probable post-medieval boundary ditch and post-medieval furrows. A palaeochannel was also identified. The earthworks comprised two long banks probably post-medieval headlands. The Saxon buildings lie within a landscape of scattered Saxon habitation to the east of Moulton.
