Summary

Inn built mid 18th century, a rainwater head is dated 1769. The front has been rewashed in colourwashed roughcast, the yard elevations are of red brick, there is some chequered brickwork and old tile roofs as well as the main roof of Welsh slate. The yard elevation has arched niches containing terracotta statues.

Full Description

{1} Inn. Dated R/C/M/1769 on rainwater head. Brick faced with roughcast. Roof concealed behind parapet. Brick ridge stacks. L-plan. Elevation to street. 2 storeys. 4-window range. Entrance off-centre to right has C20 in moulded wood doorframe. Wood cornice hood. 2 sashes to right have moulded flush wood frames and glazing bars. A 4-light window to left has wood wood-case. Tripartite sash to far left, has glazing bars with horns. First floor has 2 tripartite sash windows and 2 sash windows (12 paned) :> ed wood frames and glazing bars. Rear. Palladian doorway has Greek Ionic half columns, side lights and semi-circular traceried window. Yard range. Pair of Venetian windows flank a pedimented doorway with 6-panelled door. Brick arches. First floor has 3 recessed sashes with glazing bars and 3 arched brick niches containing terracotta statuettes.

{3} Mid C18. Rainwater head dated 1769. Front refaced in colourwashed roughcast. Welsh slated roof. 2 storeys, 4 sash windows with glazing bars. Red brick yard elevations have ground floor pair of Venetian windows, arched panels, pedimented doorway. 3 Windows above alternate with arched niches containing terracotta statuettes. Some chequered brickwork. Old tiled roofs with modillioned wood cornices. 2nd doorway Palladian with Greek Ionic half columns, side lights, central semi-circular traceried arch. Interior: fine panelling, good original staircase with carved spandrels, turned balusters, moulded handrail, Doric newel posts.
