Full Description

{2} The eastern arm of this feature was showed, in consultation with the land owner, to be a modern service trench. The western arm forms one of several linear features, not all of which need be archaeological.

{3} Trench 36 was positioned to examine a series of cropmarks but no archaeological features or deposits were identified.

{4} Cropmarks of two linear ditches centred on SP72866373. The ditches which are perpendicular to each other and run on a north-south axis probably form part of a field system. The easternmost ditch is particularly wide and is cut in two places by well defined entrances or gateways.

The cropmarks were plotted by the RCHME Air Photography Unit in October 1994. This was during a 1:2500 scale photogrammetric survey, undertaken as part of the Industry and Enclosure in the Neolithic Project.
