Full Description

{1} Trial trench excavation in 1994 identified the north-eastern corner of a feature interpreted as a SFB. Reltively large quantities of finds were recovered including a sherd of 5th century decorated pot.

{4} Three sunken-featured buildings were identified in the excavation area along with a single associated pit, and together with another SFB in the small trench to the south-east. A scatter of discrete features- probably postholes- was identified within the area of Site 1. At least some would have been associated with the SFBs. Finds from the structures included pottery, animal bone, Cu alloy and Fe fittings, Cu alloy edge binding, iron nail and a knife blade.
