Abstract/Summary

This geophysical survey was undertaken as part of an archaeological field evaluation of a large proposed development site to the west of Corby. Soil conditions at the site provide favourable conditions for the detection of archaeological features by means of magnetometer surveying, and a number of clearly defined archaeological features were observed. These include settlement remains of probably late prehistoric or Romano-British date extending in a linear pattern from the centre of the evaluation area towards the south-east. There may be other more isolated archaeological features elsewhere, but findings from much of the remainder of the site are limited to former field boundaries, land drains and cultivation effects.
