Abstract/Summary

The proposal to extract gravel from this area, linked with working to the west of the village in the adjacent parish of Deanshanger, has led to the requirement for an archaeological evaluation to determine the extent and nature of any below ground remains which might thus be affected. Such work was undertaken by the Contracts Section of NAU in the summer of 1990 and comprised surface checking and survey in addition to the excavation of a series of trial trenches and other test pits.
