Description

Very little known about this house and site. Built by the Tollemaches in the C16 and pulled down by the 4th Earl of Dysant in the middle of the C18. Complete layout of the gardens remains with terraces and fishponds; also the house platforms. Grazing land. It is the best example of a Tudor garden layout remaining in this country. {AM7} The whole site is pasture grazed by small herd of cattle. Poaching on the butt ends of the fish ponds enclosing banks. A little used footpath crosses the site. {AM12 1979}
