Abstract/Summary
Northamptonshire Archaeology carried out archaeological trial trench evaluation on land proposed for the Sandy Lane Relief Road at Upton, Northampton. The trial trenching revealed a series of isolated ditches possibly of Iron Age or Roman date. A single sherd of probable late Iron Age pottery was recovered from a ditch. Considerable variation in the natural geology was noted over the entire route of the road corridor, including the presence of a possible palaeochannel.
