Abstract/Summary

This is a record of a cutting made across the line of Watling Street in KIlsby in 1977 and a section across the Gartree Road at Corby. At Watling Street the road was 10.4m wide composed of gravel mixed with a sandy yellow/light brown earth, with a maximum thickness of 0.3m in the centre, where it was penetrated by wheel ruts to a depth of 0.15m. At the Gartree Road the agger had ben composed of pieces of limestone, ironstone and pebbly gravel, mixed with a light orange-brown gritty soil, generally 0,36m thick.
