Abstract/Summary
This report attempts to summarise the history, and to outline the main characteristics of the Priory and Village of Canons Ashby, to provide a preliminary assessment of the relative value of the whole site in county-wide terms, and to suggest policies for its future management. Most of the more important medieval and post-medieval documents relating to Canons Ashby have been consulted, but no attempt has been made to carry out an exhaustive study of any aspect. Neither has an attempt been made to place the priory in a national context, although advice should almost certainly be sought on this matter.
